“Ankara’s Day and Night Butterflies” at Kızılay Metro Art Gallery

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which continues to shed light on the natural beauties of the capital, has now opened a photography exhibition to introduce the 175 species of butterflies living in the city to the people of the capital.

“Ankara’s Day and Night Butterflies” photography exhibition, prepared in cooperation with Altın Oran Photography Art Association and TÜRKEL Butterfly Research Group, will be open for visitors at Kızılay Metro Art Gallery until May 15.

Continuing to shed light on the natural beauties and living species as well as historical and cultural values ​​of the city, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has now introduced the city’s butterfly world to the citizens of the capital with a photography exhibition on the theme “Ankara’s Butterflies by Day and by Night”.

The photography exhibition, prepared in cooperation with ABB’s Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, Altın Oran Photographic Art Association and TÜRKEL Butterfly Research Group, opened at Kızılay Metro Art Gallery.

175 SPECIES OF BUTTERFLIES LIVE IN THE CAPITAL

Bekir Ödemiş, head of the Department of Cultural and Natural Heritage, who attended the opening of the exhibition, drew attention to the fact that there are more than 175 species of butterflies and moths in the capital, and said, “There are over 175 species of butterflies and moths. species in Ankara, but unfortunately most of them are not known to our citizens of Ankara. We wanted such an important wealth in Ankara to be visible and known to the people of Ankara and to be passed on to future generations. Our goal is to make Ankara a livable, qualified and identity city by protecting its natural, historical and cultural values ​​and its archaeological heritage. We will show our exhibition from Nallıhan to Evren in our other districts and ensure that all our existing values ​​in Ankara are known to the people of Ankara.

Stating that they wanted to raise awareness with the Başkent Butterfly World Exhibition, Chairman of Altın Oran Photography Art Association, Prof. Adnan Ataç said, “There is never had exhibition of moths in Turkey. For the first time, we are doing this with the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. It is our pleasure to raise awareness. Moths are an unknown subject and they are very special butterflies. Therefore, it is necessary to introduce butterflies,” he said.

BAŞKENT PEOPLE SHOW INTENSE CARE

While the inhabitants of the Capital showed great interest in the exhibition, which will remain open until May 15, as well as the photographers, the visitors who discovered for the first time the nocturnal and diurnal butterflies of the Capital expressed with the following words:

Nihan Bayindir: “I have been involved in photography for many years. Nature is a passion for me. I invite everyone to encounter the beauties of nature. First of all, we are happy that the Metropolitan Municipality embraces the arts and we draw strength from it. We are encouraged to do better things.

Aysun Aydin: “I love nature very much. It is very good that the municipality hosts such an exhibition. I looked at the pictures of butterflies and had no idea there were so many varieties. I also had the opportunity to examine it closely.
