The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has renovated the long-neglected Abdi İpekçi Park and opened it to serve the citizens of the capital. While the park’s swimming pool, where the green spaces have been extended, has been cleaned, the light poles, seating groups and hard floors have been renewed. In addition, a playground for children and sports equipment for adults have been placed in the park.

The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, on the one hand, offers the new parks it has completed for the service of the citizens of the capital, on the other hand, it continues its maintenance-repair, cleaning and renovation works in existing parks.

Recently, ABB renovated Abdi İpekçi Park, which is located in Sıhhiye and is one of the capital’s iconic places, and opened it for the service of citizens.


As part of the renovation works carried out by the Department of Environmental Protection and Control, the nostalgic atmosphere of Abdi İpekçi Park has been preserved, while green spaces have been increased with landscaping. In the landscaping works carried out on a total area of ​​15,200 square meters in the park, the teams; He planted 29 lavenders, 368 firethorns and 3 junipers.

While the swimming pool, which creates both visual pollution and odors due to pollution due to a very long time of abandonment, has been cleaned, the seats and the hard floors have been renewed. In addition, a children’s play area and sports facilities for adults were installed in the park, where 126 new light poles were erected.


Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who announced that Abdi İpekçi Park has been renovated and put into operation with his social media accounts, said, “We have renovated Abdi İpekçi Park, which is built on an area of ​​about 34,000 square meters, with a cost of 17 million 501 thousand 364 TL. We have done landscaping by increasing the green spaces. Now there is no trace of its former neglected state with its sports facilities, playground, viewing areas,” he said.

Stating that the park, which is built on an area of ​​about 34,000 square meters, has acquired a more aesthetic appearance with the completion of restoration and renovation works, Ezgi Doğan, landscape architect of the Department of Protection and Control environment said:

“We have renewed and landscaped the hard floors, benches, urban reinforcement areas and green areas of the park, which is built on an area of ​​approximately 34,000 square meters. We cleaned the pool in the park. At the same time, we have created viewing areas. We have created areas for our employees to do activities by installing a children’s play area and fitness equipment.


As citizens, overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, took a break at Abdi İpekçi Park in the city center, they expressed their appreciation for the revamped park:
